COLUMBIA:    A very interesting night in downtown Columbia Alabama. While all of it was interesting probably the most interesting was when the former Columbia Mayor, Sandra Lovett, fell because Columbia Police Chief Shad Floyd was running everyone out of the building.

The meeting was over and the media was interviewing Mrs. Hazel, a frequent visitor of the Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Hazel begin to tell the media that the Mayor's wife told her to take the bingo cards and stick them up her ...

At that point Chief Shad Floyd said to the Columbia citizens and media it was time to leave that they had to lock up the building. Chief Floyd cut the lights out and Former Columbia Mayor Lovett fell and began to yell that she was injured. She requested someone to call a ambulance. Chief Floyd just stood in the doorway.

A off duty Dothan Firemedic checked to the former Mayor. She claimed when the Police Chief turned the lights off she tripped over a chair.

IT TOOK ONLY THREE MINUTES TO GO INTO AN EXECUTIVE SESSION

Attorney Press Register who represents the Town of Columbia ( Houston County and the Town of Webb ) recommended to the Town Council to go into Executive Session. Attorney Register read a prepared motion for the town council to make. Attorney Register told the Town Council they needed to tell the citizens if they would come back into a meeting after the Executive Session or just straight adjourn from the Executive Session.

Columbia Councilman Hunter said they would come back into session to tell the citizens what they did.

At 7:03 PM they went into Executive Session and returned about 7:43 PM.

Mayor Lannie Lancaster said the council would have a meeting in June with SARCOA to discuss the items on the May 2, 2017 letter. Councilman Hunter made the motion for the meeting.

The council then voted to pay to SARCOA the almost $ 5,000.00 for the meals with the forged signatures. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was then adjourned.

And the crowd began to question who was paying the money, Mayor Lancaster's wife of the Town of Columbia. Someone said the Town of Columbia and outrage started. The citizens present ( standing room only ) were mad. Longtime Mayor James Green's widow was outraged over the Town of Columbia paying the money back. She was very vocal, as was others, that the Center Manager, Mayor Lancaster's wife, was responsible and needed to pay the money back.

Several discussed petitions calling for the Mayor and some council members to be removed from office. Some were calling for a criminal investigation.

According to several sources there were many calls to the 20th Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office requesting an investigation UNCONFIRMED. And those same sources told us the Houston County Sheriff Department would be conducting a criminal investigation UNCONFIRMED.

Oh, former Mayor Lovett left hobbling but Columbia had no ambulance to respond. She would have had to wait for Pilcher Ambulance to respond from Dothan.
