Retired Dothan Police Lt. Stan Devane is hospitalized in Colorado following injuries from a horse ride. Stan retired from Dothan Police Department in 2004.

Following a time with the State of Alabama Pardons and Parole Stan became the Chief of Police of Elberta Alabama. A city in Baldwin County.

Stan's wife is also a retired Dothan Police Officer.

Elberta Police Department Chief Stan Devane has been hospitalized after he was reportedly injured while riding a horse in Colorado.

The Elberta PD held a candlelight prayer vigil for Devane on Wednesday (July 19) night in the Elberta Town Park with community members.

I knew of this yesterday but was asked to hold it. Stan is in very serious condition and prayers are requested by the community.

Stan was born and raised in Dothan.

This afternoon I have had the pleasure of speaking with Stan Devane's three children, Reid, Donna and Whitney.

Stan is in serious condition. The children and Stan's wife ask for your prayers. And they feel your prayers.

Stan was in the hospital and released. As the travel continued on vacation and his condition worsen they stopped at a hospital. Fortunately the hospital was honest and straight forward they were not prepared and equipped to handle Stan's condition. The flew him to the trauma center.

Yes, Stan is in serious condition. But he has shown improvement. And some of the rumors circulating are not true on his condition. Again he is critical but shown improvement.

The family is going to keep me updated and those will be posted.

A message from Stan's daughter:

 Daddy has had several test today with good reports to follow. They did tell us he has MRSA and pneumonia, but it's being treated with high doses of antibiotics. He is still critical and it's going to be a long process to recover. God is good and has placed  him in one of the best hospitals with an awesome team of doctors and nurses.  All throughout the day we have short periods of time to talk to Daddy. During this time we are telling him about all the phone calls, text, and messages that we are receiving. He only responds to us with a nod but he knows everyone is praying for him and loves him. Thank you for updating everyone for us.
