UPDATED About The Bomb Scare At Dale County Sheriff Department and 911 Center

DALE COUNTY:      While investigating a case investigators with Dale County Sheriff Department executed a search warrant. One item taken in the search warrant was a "sealed" duffle type bag.

The bag was carried to the Dale County Sheriff Office where investigators went to get another search warrant before entering that sealed bag.

When investigators opened the bag a pipe bomb was found. They then said WOW.

The area was quickly evacuated. The Ozark - Dale County 911 Center was immediately closed and calls re-routed.

Dothan Police Bomb Squad under the command of Dothan Police Lt. Scott Heath rolled.

All ended well. No loud noises or pops.

The bag carried into the Dale County Sheriff Office, as we understand, was one recovered in a search warrant. To get into the bag an additional search warrant was required and obtained.

When the bag was opened pursuant to the search warrant the pipe bomb was found.

That finding caused immediate evacuation of the Sheriff Office and the Ozark - Dale County 911 Center.

The search warrant where the bag was recovered was in relationship to a murder investigation. That investigation was of a murder where the body was found about 100 yards inside Barbour County from Dale County.

The murder victim was Orchid Nichole Bolin.

In a joint investigation between Dale County Sheriff Department and Barbour County Sheriff Department, an arrest has been made. Arrested for murder is Mitchell Byron Doster, white male, born in 1976. He is currently in the Dale County Jail on Barbour County murder charges.

The registered voters of Barbour County elected a new Sheriff, Tyrone Smith, who took office mid January. Immediately he was hit with a police officer shooting in Auburn, the suspect was from Barbour County. Sheriff Smith and his deputies were involved in the search for the suspect in Barbour County with the United States Marshall Service.

The next night a murder in Barbour County where Sheriff Tyrone Smith and his deputies conducted the investigation and made an arrest in that murder.

And now in his second full month as Barbour County Sheriff his second murder investigation has been conducted and an arrest made.

Sheriff Tyrone Smith has been ordained by fire in his short time as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of Barbour County. And we have heard some good things about him so far,
