DOTHAN:  3:42 PM.  DEVELOPING. Dothan Police are on the scene of a shooting at Virginia Avenue and Fortner Street. One person has been transported. Dothan Criminal Investigators and Patrol Officers are on the scene.

NOTE:  this has nothing to do at all with Ridgecrest Baptist Church. But because it is in the vicinity they have gone on lockdown. Everyone is safe. The lockdown is precautionary only.

Police have not released anymore information then what is posted above. The intersection is closed due to the on going investigation. Crime Scene Techs are on the scene colleting evidence. We are hoping for some information to be released shortly. It appears the SUV may have struck the black passenger car in the intersection. No other injuries are reported at this time.

UPDATED @ 4:45 PM...

Police stated that a burgundy passenger car pulled up next to the SUV at the stop sign called the victim by name and open fire. The driver then tried to escape by taking off but T-boned a black passenger car and both ended up on the sidewalk. Police believe this was a targeted shooting and not a random one.
