DOTHAN:  At 6:53 PM.... Dothan Police and Dothan Fire responded to a report of a firearm assault on Baker Trace. reports are a black male with a gray shirt and armed with shotgun. Police are on scene gathering more information while other officers are BOLOing the area. 

Reports are the 19 year old victim was shot in the abdomen. Fire medics and Pilcher’s transported the victim to the hospita. Police investigators are enroute to the scene.

The BOLO has been canceled for the suspect. Police have him detained on scene.

When RSN first reports articles you are getting it as the incident unfolds. As the Patrol Officers and Criminal Investigators kick off their investigation and start digging in, the original information might make a change.

Tonight Dothan Police responded to the shooting on Baker Trace. A lot of young people, scared young people were there. The stories were the young man was shot by an unknown person.

As police started the investigation it quickly became apparent that was not the case. The shooting was accidental.

Mr. Christian Mullins, age 19, was accidentally shot by a friend, 20 year old FIsher Shipes.

Mullins is in critical condition as SAMC.

Shipes was arrested by Dothan Police for Filing A False Police Report and on an unrelated arrest warrant.

These two boys were friends. And a lot of unfortunate set of circumstances unfolded tonight.

DOTHAN POLICE FACEBOOK PRESS RELEASE

On May 19th Dothan Police responded to a report of a firearm assault in the 2100 block of Baker Trace.

Officers arrived on scene and discover 19 year old Christian Mullins with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. It was first reported that Mullins was shot by an unknown assailant with a shotgun.

Officers determined that story to be untrue and learned that Mullins gunshot wound was accidental. Mullins was accidentally shot by a friend, 20 year old Fisher Shipes.

Shipes was transported to the Dothan Police Department for questioning. After interviews were completed Shipes was arrested for filing a false police report and an unrelated warrant.

Mullins was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed. All persons are innocent until proven guilty.
