Eight vehicles were broken into at Barbour Creek Landing, located on U.S. Highway 431 in Eufaula, this past Thursday afternoon between 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. (Daylight with heavy traffic in the area). Entry was gained by busting the windows out of the vehicles.
Barbour Creek Landing is located almost in downtown Eufaula and is a very busy and popular launch site. We understand that Eufaula Police Department may have video footage of the suspect(s) breaking into another vehicle at a separate location (unconfirmed at this time).
According to one of the victims, handguns and cash were among some of the items taken during the vehicle burglaries.
BE SURE to record all the serial numbers on any items of value that you own and have them available if needed. Make several list of your valuables, including serial numbers and photographs, and put them in various locations. {We suggest you record the serial numbers of the items you carry in your vehicle or on your person in the "Note" section of your phone for easy access.}
So, if you're launching anywhere on Lake Eufaula (Alabama or Georgia side) be sure you take all your valuable property out of your vehicle. I'd strongly suggest that you take your firearm(s) with you on the boat just in case you encounter these "entitled" individuals when you return to the landing.
We will update you as soon as we have more information.
If you have any information on these vehicle burglaries or any other crime, please contact authorities immediately.
