We Cannot Question The Why?

WICKSBURG:       On Saturday evening Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Fire Engine 9 ( Technology Drive ) to meet a ambulance coming from Henry County Road 55. The 911 Center reported there was an 8 year old child of which EMS were performing CPR.

Information later developed that the child had been involved in some sort of a ATV accident. Do not know the details of the accident and that is not what is important.

Dothan Fire Advanced Life Support Medics jumped into action. Dothan Police Patrol Shift Commander Lt. Jeremy Collins jumped into action.

Dothan Fire and the Henry County Ambulance met, advanced life support medics boarded the ambulance. While I was not on the ambulance I can assure you that everyone gave all the strength GOD had in them to work on this child and provide every opportunity known to man to assist this child in living.

Dothan Patrol Lt. Collins rapidly deployed officers in front and back of the ambulance as escort and placed officers in intesections from Highway 431 to the Dothan Hospital. It was Lt. Collins and every man and woman’s priority of the Dothan Police Department that the ambulance transporting this 8 year old child  had no obstacle slowing them down to make it to the hospital swiftly.

Again, I have no idea who was on duty in the Emergency Department of Southeast Alabama Medical Center. But I can assure you one thing, EVERYONE in that Emergency Room did everything humanly possible to do all they could do to help this child survive.

I do not know this angel. My understanding he was in the third grade of Wicksburg School.

Some believe in GOD and some do not. For me, Rickey Stokes, I BELEIVE more than 1 million percent in a living GOD. All I knew the community could do is to lift this precious child, his precious family, the host of emergency medical staff ( EMS field, emergency room, physicians surgeons, law enforcement ) up to a great and living GOD in prayer for the wisdom to treat this child.

Decisions were made in was in the best interest to transport this child to another hospital. And they did.

This afternoon I was at the awesome Memorial Homecoming Services of Ashley Greathouse when I received the text message that Beckett Burkhardt had left this earth to enter the Gates of Heaven. Tears filled my eyes.

For I know...I know...from the beginning of Beckett’s injuries everything that anyone could do was done to try to save this child’s life.

As a community, locally and abroad, I knew without a doubt, this community did all they could do and that is lift Beckett Burkhardt and all who were in a position to do what humans could do to save his life Up to a living GOD in prayer.

But today, a living and gracious GOD made a decision that Beckett Burkhardt was to leave this earth and enter into the Gates of Heaven. There is nothing I can do or say to explain why that decision was made. But who am I to question the decision that a true and living GOD has made? 

To understand GOD fully, I have to trust HIM and the decisions that HE makes.

I wish that I had the opportunity to meet Beckett Burkhardt. I did not.

But I do THANK GOD for giving me a forum to make it known that immediate prayers were needed for a precious 8 year old child. And I do THANK GOD that HE gave us a Christian community that took that request and honored it and this community lifted this child, EMS, medical personnel and his family in prayer.

There is only one set of footprints right now family and Wicksburg community. That one set of footprints is Jesus who is carrying you right now in the days ahead.

THANK YOU GOD for the lives you allowed Beckett Burkhardt to touch.
