GENEVA COUNTY: The changing of the guards occurred in Geneva County today.
Newly elected Bart Wilks and Weston Spivey were sworn in today as new Geneva County Commissioners. Sandy Hamner also was sworn in for his first elected term.
Following the oath of office between District Court Judge Stephen Smith and Probate Judge/Commissioner Chairman Fred Hamic, the commissioners held a commission meeting.
The commission held routine county business. Some procedural issues were handled such as the commissioners were suits for the first meeting of the month and casual the next meeting.
The commission heard from the department heads and elected officials.
Geneva County Engineer Justin Barfield told Commissioner Wilks he has some 41 miles of dirt roads in his district and Commissioner Weston Spivey some 127 miles of dirt roads in his district. And today's weather, well, it is what it is as to the rain.
WELCOME to officially being a Geneva County Commissioner.
Probate Judge/Commission Chairman Elect Toby Seay officially vacated his commission seat today. He will not take over as Probate Judge/Commission Chairman until January 15.
