DOTHAN:   In following the local political races over the years and after looking at all of the cards on the tables, the choice to me is overwhelming. and I will publically say that I support John Ferguson to continue to serve as my commissioner.

In my research, digging and fact finding about the two candidates, Snellgrove has run for office in each of the last four decades. I can understand why one would seek office over that period of time, but what I can’t figure out, is why one would continue seeking office defeat after defeat after defeat… times seven !

The only thing I learned from losing was that I didn’t like it!

But Hey, I guess some people are glutens for punishment.

Snellgrove won a seat on the commission but the term was cut in half so all commissioners would get on the same election cycle. Looking back, thank goodness!

That was his first successful run for office bringing his record to an impressive 1-6

He then squared off against political newcomer and local small businessman John Ferguson. From what I gather, the Snellgrove campaign knocked over and damaged signs and did everything they knew to do to knock over Ferguson. But like his other races, unsuccessful. His record improved to an ever impeccable… 1-7.

Snellgrove barely lost the last election in 2013 by only 27 votes. That’s a small margin in anything except football. But he still lost.

Once John took office, he has, in my opinion, worked very hard not only for District 4 but for the City as a whole. When his district improves, so does the entire City. When the City takes a step forward, so does his district.

John has worked for unity and during his time on the commission, the entire group has worked together and accomplished a number of things that this City and its citizens should be proud of.

Fast forward, Critt recently posted on Facebook that he will be fiscally responsible and not raise taxes or fees. But I recall a garbage fee being imposed at the end of 2012 that took effect in March of 2013.

Saying and doing are two totally different things. You’ve already raised fees on garbage…what’s next if you get elected?

After the last election (his 7th defeat), Critt said he was "highly disappointed" and added "I don't understand, I worked by butt off---I don't know what people in this town want."

Well my message for Mr. Snellgrove is simple and its one that should sound very familiar:

“WE in District 4 DO know what WE want. YOU have only won a single race out a total of seven and after that one, YOU were voted out. So yes, WE do know what WE want…not you! John Ferguson has OUR best interest in mind.”

So on August 1st, my hope is that the rest of District 4 continues to show Critt what we have done so many times, vote for the other candidate. Vote for John Ferguson.
