HOUSTON COUNTY:     Who is Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza? 

On Sunday Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza spent his day on Lake Eufaula with the dive team assisting Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox in searching for the two remaining fisherman that were missing.

All day on Sunday Sheriff Donald Valenza was on the water in the neighboring county. Working to give the families closure.

For the past 38 years Donald Valenza has been with the Houston County Sheriff Department. Beginning his tenure as a jailer under then Houston County Sheriff A.B. Clark. Progressing through the ranks and serving his entire tenure with Houston County Sheriff Department.

Valenza is a Sheriff that handles the Administrative Duties as Sheriff, but one that has both the public's back, the deputies back, the correctional officers back, the communications officers back...

In a recent interview with Sheriff Donald Valenza, he explains why he feels that he needs to be in the field.

When Dale County Sheriff Department had the school bus driver killed and the child held captive underground. Houston County Sheriff SWAT Team was on the scene. The Houston County Sheriff SWAT Team was the first to breach the bunker to provide items to the one who had kidnapped the child.

Sheriff Valenza remained on the scene for many hours. The deputies under his command were in am extremely dangerous situation. Sheriff Valenza had the deputies backs.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza worked from corrections through the ranks to being THE SHERIFF.

Sheriff Valenza also explains that he is not one to be in front of the cameras. This past Friday a media event for Blue Ribbon on child abuse. While Sheriff Valenza supports that 1 million percent, at the same time in the Houston County Courthouse two Capital Murder suspects were in court for preliminary hearings.

Sheriff Donald Valenza is responsible for the safety and security of the courthouse, the visitors and handling of those accused. Sheriff Valenza, rather than a political photo op, felt that he needed to be in the courthouse making sure all was safe in the courthouse. 

Valenza took over the reigns of Houston County Sheriff Sheriff when then Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes resigned to go to work with the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
