WICKBURG:   8:34 PM    Tonight players, coaches, Family and friends all came together to Wicksburg High School Baseball Fields to kick off the 2019 Baseball season.


It was an exciting time as the season begins.


Each tram was announced and walked the field and lined up in a group as they were called.


For a season to be successful it takes everyone to unite together to become one. A lot goes into getting the fields, rolls, teams, sponsors, coaches together. A lot of teamwork is conducted before the first ball is ever thrown.


The 2019 Wicksburg Baseball Season is dedicated to Beckett Burkhardt. 


Beckett's life was claimed in a four wheeler accident in Henry County. Beckett, age 8, was rushed to a Dothan hospital by Haleburg Rescue and Dothan Fire Department. Beckett remained in the hospital for several days before Almighty GOD brought Beckett into the Gates of Heaven.


Wicksburg Baseball created a garden to remember the children who were called into heaven. The statue is one that Beckett's mom had picked out. When the Wicksburg Board found out about it they decided that is what they will use as the statue of the garden.


Beckett was an active young man whom everyone loved.


The season is made up of many men, women and children who work hard to make everything a success where the children have an exciting time together.


Sweet-N-Sassy provided cupcakes for everyone to celebrate Beckett's 9th birthday coming up on Sunday.


The 2019 season is "officially" opened as Wicksburg Baseball Association Kent Calhoun announced " LET's PLAY BALL".


On hand for the opening season were; Houston County Commissioner of District 4 - Brandon Shoupe, Houston County School Board Member Gary Cox, Houston County School Superintendent David Sewell, and many parents, grandparents, players, and friends.
