Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony Planned for May 29

The Wiregrass Area 11th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Monday, May 29. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and features guest speakers Command Sgt. Maj. David S. Lane and Judge Roy Moore. Special tribute will be paid to SSGT Joseph C. Hidalgo, Sr. and Mayor Mike Schmitz will serve as the ceremony emcee.
The event will feature a flower laying ceremony, 21-gun salute, appearances by the Fort Rucker Honor Guard and Patriot Guard Riders, patriotic music, and picnic lunch. Robert Byrd, funeral director for Sunset Memorial Park, encourages families to come out and celebrate the true meaning of Memorial Day. The public is invited to attend.
