Woman Charged with Grand Theft

On November 20th, 2017 at approximately 8:30 PM, officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the address of 4113 Lafayette Street room 121, (the Executive Inn), in reference to a welfare check. Upon officers’ arrival contact was made with Marie Nicole Weiland and her Father Mark LaValle. Officers interviewed both parties to insure their health and welfare.
After the interview of Weiland was concluded, she returned into the hotel room while officers were interviewing Mr.LaValle outside of the hotel room and after completing the interview with Mr. LaValle they closed the investigation. Once the Officers began to leave the property, Mr. LaValle made contact a second time stating, Wieland had stolen over $500.00 cash from his wallet.
After completing an investigation in regard to the theft it was determined, Weiland had removed Mr. LaValle’s wallet from the night stand drawer, then removing the cash and debit card from the wallet, during the time officers were interviewing Mr. LaValle.
Marie Nicole Weiland was then taken into custody and is being charged with Grand Theft. Marie Nicole Weiland was then transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First Appearance on said charges.
