Woman Shot to Death in Downtown Montgomery Identified

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Investigators are releasing the name of a woman who was shot and killed Wednesday in downtown Montgomery as 58-year-old Lana Herbert, of Montgomery.
Police and Fire Medics responded to the 100 block of Commerce Street around 6 p.m. on a report of two people being shot. On scene, first responders found Herbert had already died from her injuries.
A man, who has not yet been identified, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a life-threatening gunshot wound.
A preliminary investigation has determined the shooting was domestic-related. Investigators believe the man shot Herbert before turning the gun on himself.
