HOUSTON COUNTY:    Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched a structure fire at 8260 South State Highway 109 in Southern Junction.


On the arrival of the first fire unit it was reported an active structure fire, smoke and flames visible.


The nearest fire hydrant was to far to lay water lines down to the structure. Southern Junction Volunteer Fire Chief Matt Boster requested Graceville Volunteer Fire respond with a water tanker. About 6 or 7 Graceville Volunteer Fireman responded.


Also responding to the scene were Southern Junction Volunteer Fire, Rehobeth Volunteer Fire-Rescue, Hodgesville Volunteer Fire-Rescue, Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah and Rickey Stokes, Houston County Sheriff Department.


The fireman jumped into an aggressive battle with the fire. One side of the structure was heavily damaged.


About 25 volunteer fire and EMS from across Houston County left their families to respond on Christmas Day in order to serve their community. HATS OFF.
