Dothan: 1:03 PM. Dothan 911 responded police - fire - EMS to Catalpa Avenue to an edged weapon assault. The original call a subject was stabbed in the eye.
Multiple Dothan Police Officers were on the scene within seconds of the call. The victim was found and suspect apprehended.
As officers conducted the investigation it was determined no stabbing but subject was struck with a blunt object. The victim refused medical treatment.
In Alabama the case is a misdemeanor. The incident not occurring in the prescience of an officer means the officer can not arrest. The victim will have to swear out an arrest warrant.
With medical treatment refused, a misdemeanor offense, crime scene tape rolled up and everyone back in service but report written.
I was at Main and Oates when dispatched. Dothan Police response based on nature of what was dispatched was precise, swift and professional.
