HOUSTON COUNTY: 11:16 PM. HOUSTON COUNTY SHERIFF 911 dispatched UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIREMAN from Rehobeth, Southern JUnction and Madrid to a single motor vehicle accident, overturned, with entrapment.
The accident location was 7342 South State Highway 605. The call was dispatched as critical injuries.
Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management and Alabama State Troopers responded.
The first unit on the scene reported one person, overturned and entrapped. The driver was conscious, breathing and responsive.
Emergency Service providers extricated the subject from the wreckage, packaged and transported to Flowers Hospital under a trauma alert.
Dothan Fire Engine 2 ( LAKEWOOD ) was dispatched mutual aid assistance. Dothan Fire intercepted Rehobeth Rescue at a pre-planned meeting place of Taylor Road and Highway 605.
Arnold’s Radiator Service was the wrecker on call and came and picked up the truck.
The driver was southbound and apparently ran off the road striking a tree and overturned. The impact locked the driver in the vehicle. He was conscious to call his girlfriend and parents.
Houston County is blessed with PAID and UNPAID PROFESSIONALS. In Dothan, 9 fire stations, all equipped with Paramedic Engines. In Houston County, 17 UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE stations located all over the county. In Houston County, 5 EMS Rescue units located in Wicksburg, Rehobeth, Cottonwood, Ashford and Columbia. ALl served with a great backup of Pilcher Ambulance, who has about 100 employees and don’t know how many ambulances.
Houston County also has two search and rescue operations, Houston County Rescue Unit and Regional Land and Water Rescue.
And a great pleasure with a Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director which has turned that office into a functioning office that works hand in hand with the emergency workers throughout Dothan - Houston County. Director Judah has identified that Emergency Management is not a meteroligist, but a coordinating agency that works hand in hand with the emergency responders throughout Dothan and Houston County.
Director Judah is appointed by the Dothan Mayor and Dothan Commission as their representative on the City of Dothan - Houston County Communications District Board. The entity that makes sure when you call 911 all systems are go. This past Friday marked 50 years since 911 started. And it all started in Alabama.
Director Judah was elected in November and took over the reigns in January as President of the Houston County Volunteer Fire Chief Association. As President he works hand in hand with the 17 volunteer fire and EMS units. Working in a giant partnership to better serve the people of Dothan - Houston County and their guests.
It is now 12:55 AM. The UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE are still on the scene. Assisting Arnold’s in getting the vehicle turned right side up and loaded. Making sure the scene is clean of debris.
A lot of money is saved through the service of the UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE and EMS in Houston County. And services could not be performed with advanced life support services in partnership with Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance.
Dothan - Houston County, YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS!
