DOTHAN:    Dothan Police arrested 45 yer old Christopher Britt Hamm today in connection with the wreck Friday night that claimed one life and severally injured another.

Christopher Britt Hamm was taken into custody by Dothan Police on charges of Manslaughter and Assault in the first degree. Both carried $ 60,000.00 bonds each.

Christopher Britt Hamm was transported to Houston County Jail following being booked into Dothan City Jail. All felony offenses are required to be booked into the County Jail.

Christopher Britt Hamm, known as Chris, was employed at Army Fleet Support. While he resides in Dothan Hamm went to Grand Ridge High School and was raised in Dellwood Florida.

On Friday evening Hamm was traveling west on Main Street in a pick up truck And approaching Woodburn Drive. The road which is controlled by a traffic signal that exits Flowers Hospital Emergency Department.

Mr. Richard Williford, age 57, picked his wife up from work at Flowers Hospital. Mr. Williford was clear to have the green light exiting Flowers and crossing Main Street On Woodburn when Christopher Britt Hamm is beleived to have failed to yield to the traffic lights whI have were red.

Christopher Britt Hamm struck Mr. Williford‘s vehicle and killed him instantly on the scene.

Mr. Williford’s lovely wife was trapped by the seat belt. Houston County Sheriff Deputy Jason Grantham cut the seat belt from her. Mrs. Williford asked Deputy Grantham not to leave her. And from before 11 PM until 5:30 AM Deputy Grantham remained with this lovely lady until her two sons arrived from Birmingham.

Christopher Britt Hamm was arrested on the scene and placed in a Dothan Police Car. He was arrested for DUI. Reports are his BAC was .13, above the legal limits of .08%. He later made bond.

Dothan Police CRASH Team had to complete their investigation into the accident. Following the completion of the investigation today the Dothan Police Officers arrested Cristopher Britt Hamm and booked him into jail.
