HEADLAND: This morning around 6:00 am an explosion was felt all over headland. Multiple fire units from Headland responded to a report of a fire at the Antque Store and the house behind the store in Downtown.
When units arrived they found one structure involved in heavy fire with power lines down and a vehicle on fire.
Headland Rescue requested Wiregrass Life Flight due to one person with burns over 50%. Headland Medic One transported a patient to the a Dothan Hospital, we do not know if this is the same patient.
Headland Fire requested mutual aid from Dothan Fire. Dothan responded an Engine Company and a Ladder Truck to the scene.
The area around the hotdog shop and the Antique Store are closed and will remain closed for most of the day. Headland Police are also on the scene.
Residence as far away as County Road 13 heard and felt the explosion.
UPDATED @ 7:30 AM
We have learned that the house behind the Antique Store is where the fire started. The Antique Store caught from it and is a total loss. The hotdog shop did receive heavy structural exterior damage but was NOT the cause of the fire. The occupant of the house was taken to the hospital with burns, but their condition is not known at this time.
AGAIN the hotdog shop did not burn up, the Antique Store and the house behind it did.....
UPDATED @ 8:30 AM
The occupint of the home Spencer Wells has been airlifted to UAB Burn unit in Birmingham in serious condition.
