WALKER COUNTY AL: Alabama has lost a icon in the 911 system throughout the State of Alabama.
Mr. Roger Wilson passed away yesterday due to an illness. Mr. Wilson is the Executive Director of the Walker County 911 system. He also served on the State 911 Board.
Mr. Wilson was a visionary. He was one of four people who saw the future of 911 and was a driving force to improve and make 911 system better across the state.
While many never knew Roger Wilson, if you ever call 911 for help, it is Roger Wilson who pioneered a lot of the current system which responds help to you after dialing three numbers.
Roger Wilson worked to get legislation passed to improve the 911 system. He stood up for what he believed and would battle for his beliefs. He would listen, but once his mind was made up he was unwavering in making things happen. And that was a champion to make the 911 system better.
The City of Dothan - Houston County Communications District is and has been a benefactor of Roger Wilson's work and efforts. When the citizens of Dothan - Houston County and the guests of this area dial 911, Roger Wilson championed for the technology and system to make things happen in emergencies.
Wilson was appointed by peers and the Governor to serve on the statewide board. He made a huge impact on emergency services in Alabama.
Prayers from the City of Dothan - Houston County Communications District to the Wilson Family. And we THANK YOU as a family for allowing your husband, dad, granddad to work to make Alabama 911 better.
