AG MARSHALL ANNOUNCES ARREST OF DOTHAN MAN FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY POSSESSION, VIOLATION OF COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION ACT
(MONTGOMERY)--Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the arrest today of Daniel J. Lockner of Dothan for possession of child pornography on his computer, as well as for violating restrictions as a previously convicted sex offender.
Lockner, 34, was arrested on August 9 by Special Agents of the Attorney General’s Office and taken to the Houston County Jail. The arrest was the result of warrants* brought by Special Agents of the Attorney General’s Investigations Division.
Specifically, the warrants charge Lockner with two counts of possessing obscene matter depicting persons under age 17, which was maintained on his computer drive and an external USB storage device. Lockner is a registered sex offender for a previous charge of attempted distribution of obscene material to a minor. He faces two additional charges of violating Alabama’s Community Notification Act.
No further information about the investigation or about Lockner’s alleged crimes other than that stated in the warrants may be released at this time.
The case is expected to be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Criminal Trials Division. If convicted, Lockner faces a maximum penalty of one to 10 years for each count of possession of child pornography and violation of the community notification act, which are class C felonies.
Attorney General Marshall commended Special Agents of the Attorney General’s Investigations Division and thanked the Houston County and Dale County sheriff’s offices for assistance.
*A warrant is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
