ALABAMA SENATE DISTRICT 29: This past Monday Alabama Senator - District 29 - made a post on FACEBOOK. The post concerned Senator Smith and her husband Charlie cleaning out her Senate Office in Montgomery.
For 20 years Harri Anne Smith has served in the Alabama Senate. She is an avid user of FACEBOOK in contact with the citizens she serves in District 29.
Following the post some supporters of Senator Harri Anne Smith began posting writing her name in on the ballot on November 6. As anyone, Senator Smith was surprised and humbled by the comments made.
And those making the comments of writing her name in has grown.
UNDERSTAND - under the Alabama election laws Senator Harri Anne Smith can not “personally“ promote a write in campaign. That has to be citizen led and driven. Nothing stops you as a citizen in writing in her name.
But again, she will not violate the campaign laws and actively participate.
Senator Smith, in our conversationsm is extremely humbled buy those who have contacted her and started FACEBOOK pages of “Write In Harri Anne”.
The election is on November 6. Alabama House of Representative Member Donnie Chesteen is the opponent in the race. Senator Smith did not seek re-election because of her husband Charlie developing a medical condition. One that is now under control.
Senator Harri Anne Smith loves serving the people.
Since the write in chatter has occured Senator Harri Anne Smith has been omitted from functions on giving out grant money. She has not been invited to the check presentations even though she played significant roles in securing the money for different projects.
But because Senator Smith is an Independent and not a Republican or a Democrat puppet, she is being intentionally not invited to participate in the check presentations. One today at the Taylor Made Festival.
The Houston County Commission recognized Senator Smith for her 20 years of service at this past Houston County Commission Meeting. There were a couple of problems. They did not invite Senator Smith to the recognition, only sent her a video. And after 20 years did not know how to spell her name and misspelled it on the resolution.
If you gonna recognize someone for their 20 years of service, the right thing to do is to invite them.
The vote is up to the people. But if you want to write in someone’s name in office, you have the right and authority to do so.
HARRI ANNE SMITH
the correct spelling
