MONTGOMERY: Tonight the Alabama Sheriff’s Association Meeting was held in Montgomery Alabama. The Outgoing Alabama Sheriff's Association President Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson handed over the gavel to the Incoming President Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton.
Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza was one of four Alabama sheriff’s presented with a framed plaque of the Alabama Sheriff’s Star.
Several presentations were made by Sheriff Olson. Some of those included necklaces for his wife, two daughters and his mother. Their loyal support along with the support of the men and women of Dale County Sheriff Department made the year of service possible.
Incoming President Coffee COunty Sheriff Dave Sutton presented Sheriff Olson with several gifts. Long time Executive Director Bobby Timmons presented Sheriff Olson with a very nice clock.
Both Sheriffs represent their counties and our part of the State well. Alabama has 67 Sheriffs and most were present for tonight’s presentations.
Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox, Covington County Sheriff Dennis Meeks, Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms, Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas were among area Sheriffs present.
Ever since I can remember Bobby Timmons has served as Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriff’s Association. He has guided Alabama Sheriffs through good and bad times. But he has been a steady hand helping Sheriffs navigate the awesome duties they have.
