Attempted Armed Robbery

On August 27, 2018, at approximately 12:31 P.M, Officers with the Abbeville Police Department responded to a local business located in the city limits of Abbeville in reference to a complaint of an Attempted Armed Robbery.
Upon arrival, Officers spoke to the female victim who advised while performing cashier duties she was appoached by a dark complected white male subject with numerous identifiable tattoos who pretended to have a handgun while he demanded she open the cash register. When the victim refused to do so, she advised the man then walked around the counter to meet her where he produced a knife and once again demanded she open the register.
This time, when she refused to open it once again, she said the man concealed his knife and left the store.
During investigation, using the security video from the store and witness statements Officers were able to identify a suspect as Mr. Randy E. Weeks of Abbeville, LA. Now, with a positive identification, Officers, along with assiting VPSO Deputies were able to locate Mr. Weeks at his residence where he was taken into custody without incident.
Mr. Weeks is currently being held on bond at the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center facing a charge of Attempted Armed Robbery.
