As part of an ongoing investigation into the possession and sale of listed chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine, the Marianna Police Department obtained a search warrant for the Big and Little convenience store located at 4153 Lafayette Street. An arrest warrant for the owner of the Big and Little, Sabirali Saboowalla, was also obtained for Possession or Distribution of Listed Chemicals. On March 9th, 2018 the Marianna Police Department executed the search warrant and the arrest warrant.
During the search of the Big and Little, investigators located 100% household lye, lighter fuel, cold packs and lithium batteries which were all being sold, as a kit, for the sole purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine. Investigators also located glass smoking pipes that were being sold for the sole purpose of ingesting methamphetamine. Investigators also located a quantity of prescription medication. Investigators seized all items that were being sold illegally.
Saboowalla was arrested for the above mentioned charges and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
