Five years ago I heard about Cody Hayes, a high school teenager who loved
his family, his friends, his school sports, his Jeep and he really loved doing for others
and making people smile.
Cody was diagnosed in 2013 with Leukemi...8 months after the diagnosis
He was called to Heaven.
I saw many pictures of Cody helping other children,
like the picture of him below, who were diagnosed with cancer at Children’s Hospital.
It was because of Cody Hayes that I decided to do my very first cake fundraiser
to try and help his parents, Frank and Alicia Hayes, with their medical bills.
Five years later...
Because of the many caring and giving people who live in the Wiregrass Community,
the cake fundraisers have raised over $260,000 for over 14 local children
who were diagnosed with cancer and other deadly diseases.
So many have volunteered to help make the cakes and donated supplies...
and today...Cakes For Thomas...
was launched to help the family of a 11 year old boy who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
Alicia and Frank have been a big supporter of each cake fundraiser and many others
including their own fundraiser that they do each year
“ SWING FOR A CURE “
Today I surprised them with a “GOLD” KitchenAid mixer because Alicia wants
to help bake cakes for Thomas’s fundraiser and for future fundraisers.
By being around Alicia and Frank it’s very easy to see where
Cody got his loving, giving and caring heart from.
Cody Hayes lost his battle with Leukemia but.....
Cody ALSO WON the hearts of many including mine.
I have no doubt that Cody is smiling down from Heaven
as he watches his loving parents helping so
many other children in need.
CODY STRONG 🙏❤️
