HOUSTON and DALE COUNTY:   This weekend there was a chase of suspects from a incident that occurred in Dothan.

Newton Police Department, Ozark Police Department, Dale County Sheriff Department, ALEA-Trooper, Dale County Sheriff helicopter and Houston County Sheriff K-9 all searched for the suspect(s).

While Dale County Sheriff helicopter was flying overhead Houston County Sheriff K-9 bloodhound and SRT Team were on the ground tracking the suspect(s).

The bloodhound tracked the suspects and they were apprehended.

Several years ago in Florida a Correctional Officer from Holmes County was with the K-9 team tracking a suspect. I was down there.

The suspect all of a sudden popped up opening fire on the K-9 team killing the Holmes County Correctional Officer.

Since that time Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza requires the SRT ( SWAT ) to run with the K-9 team to make sure all officers go home safe.

As with all law enforcement commanders, especially Sheriff Donald Valenza, he is going to make sure the men and women of the department are safe and secure. Often times Sheriff Valenza will respond to be on hand just making sure they are safe and get back home after duty.
