HOUSTON COUNTY: This week in the 20th Judicial Circuit - Houston County - two cases won by the defense.
SHAUN McGHEE - Attorney At Law won four cases in jury trials before the Honorable Circuit Court Judge Butch Binford. These cases went to a jury trial.
Following that case Shaun McGhee started another trial before the Honorable Butch Binford. It was a Possessing/Receiving of a Controlled Substance. The defendant, Tommie Hill, was arrested by Dothan Police on April 7, 2016. The arrest officer was Officer Trayham.
A Houston County Grand Jury issued an indictment against Hill on March 15, 2018. But a ham sandwhich can get indicted before a Grand Jury.
Defense Attorney Shaun McGhee was the defense. The case was prosecuted and at the end of the state's case McGhee asked the court for a directed judgement of aquittal in that the state had not proved their case. The motion filed by Shaun McGhee was granted and Judge Binford threw the case out.
BILLY JOE SHEFFIELD - Attorney At Law went to trial before the Honorable Larry Anderson in 10 cases of Custodial Sex Abuse. The allegations were against Shon Christopher Holton.
The case, investigated by Dothan Police Department Investigator Morgan, were allegations that Holton committed the unlawful acts while the defendants were in the custody of the Alabama Department of Youth Services.
After the cases were presented to a jury of peers, the 12 found Holton NOT GUILTY on all 10 counts.
What COURT WATCH has already seen in the Dothan Municipal Court, a bull dozier needs to come in and demolish it and start over again. It is beyond repair. Just no one to fix it. Kinda like, demolish a house and rebuild it.
