DOTHAN:    DAD - " I want to come home ".

These are the words that Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle heard from his son. After graduating from college Mayor Battle son went to a major city in the banking business. His son felt he wanted to be in a major city across the country as he started his banking career.

Several years later his son called and told his dad of an offer with a bank in Huntsville and he wanted to return back, telling his dad " I want to come home ".

Mayor Battle said that as Huntsville Mayor for the past ten years he has taken on education. Improving education in Huntsville. Mayor Battle applauded former Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz. After his 8 years Mayor Schmitz could have chosen any path he wanted, to include going home. But Mayor Schmitz decision was to take on education and make a difference.

Mayor Battle said he wants to do that in Alabama. Make a difference in education, improving our schools and create programs to develop a workforce that's career ready.

Mayor Tommy Battle is working the State of Alabama in an effort to become Alabama's next Governor. Mayor Battle says Alabama has seen it's values come under attack. The state has endured corruption instead of opportunity. Scandal instead of education. Embarrassment instead of pride.

Mayor Battle wants to bring more high-paying jobs to Alabama's workers; eliminate bureaucracy in our state government; build new roads and improve broken infrastructure system; expand affordable high-speed internet access statewide;improve our schools and create programs to develop a workforce that's career ready; restore pride in our state's government and end the culture of corruption; support our police, sheriff's, and law enforcement officials.

Alan and Marty Clark were host to Tommy Battle to meet several people last evening in Dothan. I had the chance to meet Mayor Battle. He is a very personable person, has been good for Huntsville and the growth of Huntsville. Mayor Battle wants to move that success statewide.
