DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan City Schools Superintendent Dr. Phyllis Edwards has decided where to place school principals for the upcoming school year.
This was slated to be one of the first steps after the reorganization process was adopted by the school board last month. All recommendations will need board approval.
Edwards also plans to provide the DCS board with updated tasks each month for the process along with who will oversee the tasks for the system.
Edwards cited the process as being “beyond complicated” but noted in the report that the system will still receive funding for a short time for school facilities that will be closing. The superintendent said this will be a “slight cushion until 2020.”
There are plans for a “route coordinator” within the transportation department to determine bus routes each day.
Carver Magnet School survived the reorganization process as the only remaining magnet school in the DCS system. Edwards plans to present requirements for acceptance into the school before the board, and parents would know how to apply by January. The selection process is planned to be completed by February.
