Dothan Police Arrest A Dothan Police Officer

DOTHAN:    Dothan Police arrested Dothan Police Officer Adrian Alexander Folmar today. Folmar was booked into the Dothan City Jail then transferred to Houston County Jail. Folmar was booked in at 6:28 PM

Folmar, age 33, was a School Resource Officer. Dothan Police arrested Folmar on School Employee Engaging In Sex With A Student.

On December 6th 2017 Dothan Police Investigators became aware of allegations of inappropriate behavior between an School Resource Officer and a student.

An investigation ensued and following interviews, it was determined that Dothan Police Officer Adrian Folmar had an inappropriate relationship with a seventeen year old student. Officer Folmar was arrested and charged with two counts of “School Employee Engaging in a Sex Act with a Student Under the age of 19 Years Old”. The bond was set at $60,000.00.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

NOTICE:    

A recent court ruling may make this law where it does not apply to law enforcement officers. The key is “school employee”. The officers are not “school employees” but are employees of the City of Dothan Police Department assigned to the school.

Judge Glenn Thompson said prosecutors must prove the teacher used a "position of authority" to "coerce, groom, or otherwise obtain the illegitimate consent of the alleged victims." The state, on appeal, is challenging the ruling.
