HOUSTON COUNTY: Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched a structure fire of a RV at 1:57 AM in the 200 block of Spring Hill Road in the Hodgesville Community.
The first call went the fire was of a RV at my address. I went out of bed and out the door and my RV was not on fire. I got my radio and notified the Sheriff Department it was not at my address. I then looked at my neighbors and thought it was a trash pile from trees pushed up. As I got closer it was determined their RV trailer was on fire and fully engulfed in flames.
A passer by saw the fire and called 911. The female beat on the residence door and woke them. As the homeowner came out of the house he saw his camper trailer RV fully engulfed in fire.
He had been getting it ready for use for the holiday weekend as he normally does. He placed items in the camper and plugged it in so the batteries could charge and the refrigirator be getting cold. A normal procedure.
Hodgesville Volunteer Fire rolled three fire engines to the scene. Houston County Sheriff Deputy Smith and Herring responded. The trailer was a total loss.
The vinyl siding on the building the camper was near was damaged from the heat from the fire. In 22 minutes from dispatch the camper was totally gone. When the fireman arrived it was totally engulfed.
