ALABAMA: We just passed the 30 day countdown to June 5 primary election. A multitude of offices up for election. And very confusing.
1. State and County offices are up for election.
2. June 5th is the primary election where the POLITICAL PARTIES, Republicans and Democrats, will select their person to face the nominee for the Republican or Democrat party in November.
There are three ways to seek election: (1) sign up as a Republican (2) Sign up as a Democrat (3) get signatures to submit for verification they are from registered voters in order to qualify to seek election as a Independent.
EXAMPLE: In Henry County, the incumbent Sheriff, Will Maddox, is seeking re-election as a Democrat. Sheriff Maddox has no opposition in the Democrat Primary on June 5th. So Sheriff Maddox will not be on the ballot in June but will face a Republican in November.
In Henry County, two are seeking ”nomination“ for Republican Sheriff: Jay Calhoun and Jay Henry.
ONLY IN JUNE a person has to decide if they are voting Republican or Democrat.
If Calhoun or Henry is elected as the Republican nominee in June, they will still have to face Incumbent Sheriff Will Maddox in November.
IN NOVEMBER YOU CAN VOTE EITHER REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT, DOES NOT MATTER HOW YOU VOTED IN JUNE!
Remember major political operatives developed these rules to confuse everything.
LET ME CONFUSE A LITTLE MORE
In Houston County, Commission District Three race. All three seeking election are Republicans: Incumbent Jackie Battles challenged by Fred Helms and Ricky Herring. One of the three have to receive 50 + 1 of the total votes cast in order to avoid a run off. If they don’t, several weeks from June 5 there will be a run off.
This election will be over on June 5 or the run off date. Whoever wins will be the nominee because no Democrat is running. So this race will be over.
IN order to vote for one of these three, a person must vote Republican In June.
STATEWIDE AND COUNTY OFFICES
There are statewide offices: Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Tresuerer. Agriculture Director, State Senators, State Senators, Supreme Court Judges, Court Of Civil Appeals, Court of Criminal Appeals, and more.
Locally Sheriff’s, Coroner’s, Local Probate Judges/County Commission Chairman, County Commissioners, County Commission Chairman who are not Probate Judges, and Probate Judges, Circuit Clerks, School Board Members, and more.
Some of these get elected on name recognition and people have no idea of who they are. We are going to work to profile these candidates in order for you to make informal decisions.
But the next 30 days politics will get heated up. You will see ambush attacks on candidates. Already hearing them. In fact we already have some documents uploaded and ready in SCRIBD to be printed when some of the attacks begin.
And we will be pointing out to you some things that are really going on. A lot of games being played, most especially in Coffee County. UNREAL what Sue Nuewine and District Attorney Tom Anderson are doing. We have been looking and will be letting you know.
Stay tuned, hold on and get ready.
