TROY: A teen was injured in an altercation with Troy Police on December 23rd. The teen was transported to Troy Medical Center and then to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
The case is under investigation, at the request of Troy Police Chief Barr, by the Alabama Department of Law Enforcement - State Bureau of Investigation Division.
The family of the teen have hired Dothan Attorney's Dustin Fowler and Steve Etheredge along with Tallahassee Attorney Ben Crump.
Troy Police spotted KeAndree Wilkerson, age 17, walking behind some Troy businesses. The allegations are when police approached Wilkerson he ran.
Troy Police caught up with the suspect. The allegations are the suspect had his hands in his waist band and refused the commands of the police. A struggle took place and the suspect was injured.
The investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation will take some time. The agency is a independent law enforcement agency and most likely those assigned do not even know the officers involved. But the agents are methodical in their investigation and take their time in conducting the investigation.
Should their be a legal civil action most likely it will be a civil rights suit that would be filed in federal court. But the true and accurate facts will be days or a couple of months before the investigation is complete.
