Former Funeral Director Arrested

GENEVA COUNTY:  A former Hartford Funeral Home owner has been arrested.


Geneva County Sheriff Deputies have arrested Jason Shephard on eight counts of Theft By Deception. The charges stem from an investigation into the pre-need funeral home accounty of the funeral home owned by Shephard.


The case was investigated by Hartford Police Department. The case information was presented to a Geneva County Grand Jury which turned indictments of Theft By Deception, eight counts.


Shepard had moved to Georgia and was arrested in Georgia. Geneva County Sheriff Deputies traveled to Georgia and took custody. Shepard is to be in Geneva County later today.


The complaint was from families that had paid pre-need funerals.
