NEWTON: My days run together so I am not sure what day this occurred over the weekend...but
Ozark-Dale County 911 dispatched Newton Volunteer Fire to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 231 at or near the double bridges.
Following the accident the people involved needed somewhere to stay for family to respond to pick them up.
What I know is only from listening on the radio, but Newton Volunteer Fire loaded the victims of the accident, uninjured, and transported them to McDonald's in Ozark. A place that was warm and where they could comfortably stay waiting on family to pick them up.
If any church would like to offer a ministry that has a van, here is a great opportunity for you. Have someone within your church drive the church van home and be on call to respond to incidents such as car wrecks.
Could you imagine you and your family traveling to Orlando and in Tallahassee you are involved in a motor vehicle accident and your car is totally inoperable and it is 8 PM. No car rental places open and you know NO ONE in Tallahassee.
It would be a fantastic ministry that a church had the van and someone on call that emergency services could call to the scene that would take that family and carry them to a motel for the night. The next morning pick them up and carry them to a car rental place in order for them to get transportation or where they stayed until their family could come pick them up.
This is a 24/7, 365 day a year commitment. But what a ministering opportunity for the church and community, that our community takes care of you.
Yes, these days you have to be careful the person understands you are not being taken in to raise...only to assist to get you a place for the night and to a rental vehicle the enxt day.
A true meaning of a servant of Christ...
