PONCE DE LEON, Fla – Investigators with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, have arrested a fugitive wanted both in the state of Texas and Holmes County, Florida.
Matthew Paul Skelton, 31, was taken into custody Thursday, April 5, 2018, at a Ponce de Leon residence on Holmes County warrants for criminal use of personal information and Texas warrants for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, fraud, and violation of parole. Additional charges are also pending in Holmes and Okaloosa Counties.
Skelton’s existing Holmes County charges stem from a March 25, 2018 vehicle burglary that took place in Ponce de Leon and was recently solved by HCSO investigators. Through a series of events, investigators were able to identify Skelton as a suspect in the burglary, during which a debit card and other items were stolen.
Investigators were then able to determine Skelton had made two unsuccessful attempts to use the stolen debit card - which had been cancelled by its owner – at an area store Skelton is currently in custody of the Holmes County Jail.
The USMS Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force is a cooperative effort between the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Panama City Police Department, U.S. Marshal’s Service, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection
