Brian and his friend Todd Weaver. They are both former Marines and they own Jarheadz BBQ in Geneva. Right after the storm, Brian and Todd began serving hot meals at no charge, to the linemen and hurricane victims. They first served at the Peanut Festival grounds and then Gordon.
They were going to where the EMA told them to go. Then they went down to Panama City Beach and set up at the Police or Sheriff’s Office, I don’t remember which one. But now they have been at Port St. Joe for about 3 weeks and have served over 20,000 meals to the victims and linemen and other recovery workers. They cook for people every day and all day, 7 days a week.
Brian and Todd, along with Annie’s Cafe from Enterprise, are planning on serving about 1,500 people a free Thanksgiving meal on the beach at Port St. Joe. This event has taken a lot of planning and a lot of volunteers and a lot of donations. From the very beginning, Brian and Todd have seen this as a mission from God, and have given their lives to this calling.
It has been 100% financed by generous donations from individual people. I have even begged Brian to go home and take care of his restaurant, but he has told me he can’t leave Port St. Joe while there are lines of people needing a good hot meal.
