On August 9th, 2018 at approximately 11:53am officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the intersection of Lafayette Street and Wynn Street in reference to reports of a traffic crash with entrapments. Upon officers arriving on scene, it was found that one of the vehicles was overturned and the driver was out of the vehicle.
The Marianna Police Department began a traffic crash investigation to determine that cause of the crash. During this investigation, officers determined that a 2016 Toyota pickup, driven by Jeremiah Castleberry was traveling south on Wynn Street, approaching the intersection of Lafayette Street. The other vehicle involved, a 2011 Suzuki pickup driven by James Glass of Chipley, was traveling east on Lafayette Street, approaching Wynn Street.
Based on witness accounts of the crash, it was determined that the Toyota pickup failed to stop at the red light, crossing into the path of the Suzuki pickup. The Suzuki pickup struck the passenger’s side of the Toyota causing the Toyota to begin to spin. The Toyota then began to rollover and came to rest on its driver’s side.
The driver of the Toyota pickup was charged in the crash for failing to stop at a steady red signal.
There were no injuries reported in the crash. Lafayette Street traffic was slightly delayed until first responders could clear the roadway.
