One person is dead following a shooting at a Huntsville apartment complex Sunday night.

Police found the victim when they responded to a shooting call at Spring Branch Apartments on Binford Drive, said. Lt. Michael Johnson. The victim died after being taken to Huntsville Hospital, according to police. The victim's identity hasn't yet been released.

"Investigators are following leads and interviewing people at this time," Johnson said. "At this time there have been no arrests."

The apartments are just west of Memorial Parkway, off Clinton Avenue.

The case marks the city's third homicide in less than a week. Since 2018 began, at least five people have been killed in Huntsville--all by gunfire. In 2017, 22 people were the victims of homicides in the city.
