HARTFORD: Part Two of the article Matt wrote earlier on Wiregrass Electric Cooperative.
Today we had the opportunity to join the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative FAMILY for Lineman's Appreciation Day.
Today Brad Kimbro of Wiregrass Electric told the Alabama Legisialture in 2014 set aside the first Monday of June as Lineman Appreciation Day. A time to stop and thank the men and women that make our society function with electricity.
These men and women are the real deal that hang on poles in high winds, rain, cold nights to get their customers electricity going again.
Did you know??? Wiregrass Electric Cooperative covers a foot print area of 2093 square miles with only 24 lineman, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week?
Did you know??? Wiregrass Electric Cooperative has four offices which are operated by 12 people?
So three dozen people keep 2,093 square miles of people with their basic needs of electricity.
But here is what impresses me most about Wiregrass Electric... they are a family atmosphere. The management is genuine and they care about each and every team member and their individual family members. And today they came together with a lunch and then let the lineman off for the rest of the day. Just a small way to say THANK YOU.
A member of U.S. Representative Martha Roby staff was on hand for the celebration, Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver, Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah were all on hand for the celebration. Several WEC Board Members to include Board Vice President Donna Parrish.
NOTE: Your Wiregrass Electric Cooperative has an "out of this world" command center. To manage and stay on top of your being connected. The services they provide - all other utility companies need to visit and take note.
