A suspect was shot by police after leading officers on a high-speed chase through St. Clair County and trying to run over a cop, an Alabama investigator said.

The suspect, an Anniston man named Nicholas Powers, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, said Lt. John Riley, a spokesman for the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation. Powers was treated at a local hospital for treatment of the injury that was not life-threatening, authorities said.
