HOUSTON COUNTY: Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza recently made a promotion from Lieutenant to Captain.
Sheriff Valenza promoted Sheriff Lieutenant James Ivey to the rank of Captain.
Captain James Ivey has served with the Houston County Sheriff Department for 18 years. He worked his way from Patrol Deputy to the rank of Lieutenant. Captain Ivey was a Lieutenant for 10 years.
Prior to Ivey's promotion he commanded day shift patrol.
Captain James Ivey, from Wicksburg, will command all of Patrol Services Bureau, Court Security Services and Communications.
Captain Ivey has always been a hard working Deputy Sheriff. This past weekend Captain Ivey made sure the 186th Unit had a law enforcement/fire/EMS escort as they returned from fighting for the United States of America after a year deployment. Captain Ivey was first on the scene in a wreck with injuries at Wicksburg when he was off this past week.
Captain Ivey will have high expectations in service for the citizens and guests of Houston County.
We congratulate him on his promotion.
