Today I, along with the family’s help, am starting a fundraiser for Mrs. Recy Taylor from Abbeville, Al.
Recy Taylor passed away in late December just days away from her 98th Birthday and was laid to rest on Jan 5, 2018.
Many of you may be familiar with the terrible story that happened to Recy in the 1940’s and was just recently on the news after Oprah Winfrey visited her grave just days after she was buried.
After I received permission from her family, I was excited to start this fundraiser for Recy because her story, her life and her surviving relatives touched my heart and the hearts of so many others.
So together we would like to place a beautiful headstone on Recy’s final resting place and on her daughter’s and her granddaughter’s final resting place.
I listened to Mrs. Recy’s granddaughter emotionally describe how wonderful she was...
And My Response To Her Was....
Mrs. Recy Is A Grandmother To All Of Us
The Love She Kept In Her Heart For Her Lord And Savior And For Her Family And Friends Shined Bright Each And Every Day Of Her Life And It Is Our Duty Out Of Respect For Her And As Fellow Christians To Keep Her Light Shining Bright In All Of Us.
By Doing This Fundraiser For Her
Is One Way We Can Keep Her Light Shining Bright ❤️❤️
We are raising money for a headstone to be put on Mrs. Recy’s grave and also for headstones to be placed on her daughter ( Joyce Owens) and her granddaughter ( Evangeline Owens) who was six when her and her mother Joyce were killed in a car wreck over 50 years ago and buried in unmarked graves close to where Mrs Recy was buried.
THIS IS OUR WAY OF MAKING SURE THAT
LOVED, MISSED AND REMEMBERED
NOT JUST BY HER FAMILY
BUT BY ALL OF US AS WELL
