March 3rd is the birthday of Lacy Layton. While she is in heaven now, we want to join her family in remembering Lacy.

Lacy and our daughter Emily were great friends. In February 2009 when Emily’s grandparents died, Lacy took off from school and stayed with Emily during the entire tragedy.

About one month later, in fact, Emily spent the weekend in March 2009 with Lacy. They dropped Emily off at our house and Lacy left her vehicle there to go with some friends to Sadie’s Flea Market.

Emily and I went to Sam’s.

Lacy’s mom called and asked me if anything had happened. She called Lacy’s cell phone and a man answered it. I had not seen any wreck pages and told her mom that. But we were soon to find out that Lacy had been in a bad wreck on Eddins Road. Just a couple of miles from our house.

Lacy was in bad condition and later died in the hospital.

I will always believe that it was a GOD THING that my pager did not go off when the wreck occured. It was on Eddins Road between Lucy Grade Intersection and Prevatt Road intersection. Because covering the news I would have gone to the wreck and that was last thing our daughter needed to see.

Lacy attended Rehobeth and Ashford Schools. She had a outgoing personality and was the definition of a true friend to our daughter Emily.

In my office today is a picture of Lacy and Emily.
