On May 6, 2018 at approximately 2:00 PM the Bonifay Police Department responded to a report of road rage with a suspect reportedly brandishing a handgun. The complainant was able to stay on the phone with dispatchers and relay the suspect vehicle description and landmarks noting their location as they traveled south on State Road 79 (Waukesha Street).
Law enforcement officers with the Bonifay Police Department and the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office conducted a felony traffic stop at a nearby gas station. The suspect was taken into custody with minor resistance. The suspect was identified as Philip Patrick Dehn, a white male, age 27, of Panama City Beach.
Dehn has been charged with Improper Exhibition of a Firearm and Using a Firearm While Under the Influence of Alcoholic Beverages. Shortly after the arrest, two large aggressive canines exited Dehn’s vehicle and caused some concern for the officers on-scene and patrons of the store. The two canines were secured with no injuries to the canines or anyone else on-scene and they were transported to the city pound.
The Bonifay Police Department would like to thank the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Highway Patrol and the City of Bonifay Public Works Department for their assistance with this incident.
