Suspect Arrested on Sex Charges

On December 21, 2018, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a sexual abuse of a 11 year old child which occurred approximately a year ago. Investigators learned that 51 year old, Anthony Rex Edge, of Sneads, Florida, had conducted the acts while acting as a caregiver of the child.

During the investigation it was learned that EDGE not only exposed himself to the child, but he also photographed the child in sexual positions and showed the child pornographic videos. EDGE also paid the victim to in return for sexual favors.

Although EDGE lives in Sneads, Florida, he works in Orange County, Florida. After an arrest warrant was signed for EDGE, the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force was contacted in Orange County, Florida, to assist apprehend EDGE.

On January 16, 2019, The Orange County United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, along with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Fugitive Task Force took EDGE into custody at a local hotel without incident.

Anthony Rex Edge, is being charged with Lewd and Lascivious Battery, ( 2nd Degree Felony), Lewd and Lascivious Molestation, (LIFE Felony), Lewd and Lascivious Molestation (LIFE Felony), Lewd and Lascivious Conduct, (2nd Degree Felony), Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition, (3rd Degree Felony).

EDGE is currently being held in the Orange County, Florida, jail, until such time that he will be transported back to Jackson County, Florida.

Sheriff Lou Roberts would like to extend his sincere thanks to the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force in Panama City, Florida, as well as the Orange County Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, The Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Fugitive Task Force with the combined assistance to apprehend a violent felon.
