Theft Call Lands a North Carolina Man in JailMatt Boster

On October 28, 2018, a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Econo Lodge in Marianna. This was in reference to a report of a stolen firearm.
The owner of a contracted road crew notified the Sheriff’s Office that his firearm had been stolen out of his work vehicle. Further information provided was that one of his employees had taken the firearm. This information was provided due to the suspect showing the firearm to others the night before.
During the course of this investigation, it was determined the suspect, Tyrone Thompson (27 yoa) had stolen the firearm from the work vehicle. The firearm was located where Thompson had hid it and returned to the rightful owner. It was also determined that he had another firearm in his possession a week earlier. This firearm was also located and was reported stolen out of North Carolina. Thompson was found to be a convicted felon in North Carolina.
Thompson was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
