Traffic Stop Lands One in Jail on Drug Charges

On January 3, 2018, investigators with HCSO stopped a red Cadillac at Intersection of Hwy 2 and Hwy 173 for a traffic related offense.
The driver of the vehicle later identified as Robert Daniels from Hartford, Alabama opened the door of the vehicle and threw a case that contained a large amount of methamphetamine (ICE), large amount of Xanax, and a small amount of marijuana out onto the ground as the investigator was approaching the vehicle.
The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Jamie Newberry from Dothan, Alabama. A search of his person revealed a large amount of methamphetamine (ICE) on his person.
Both Daniels and Newberry were arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. Daniels faces additional charges of trafficking in alprazolam, Possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
