Traffic Stop Lands One in Jail on Drug ChargesMatt Boster

On Wednesday, December 19th , 2018, a Jackson County Sheriff's Office K9 Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a blue in color Toyota SUV located on Hwy 231 south of Alford, FL for a traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop the K9 Deputy observed the driver, Julie Marie Kent of Alford, FL, making furtive movements as if hiding something in a purse located on the front passenger floorboard. Due to these furtive movements, a probable cause search of the purse for weapons was conducted. Upon the deputy observing the contents of the purse, a glass smoking pipe was located in plain view within the purse. The purse was determined to belong to Ms. Kent as her Florida issued driver license was within. Also within the purse the deputy located a baggie containing a crystal like substance which field tested presumptive positive for the presence of methamphetamine. Ms. Kent was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
